Identify the actual plug-in configuration
Collect VIN, original market, production generation and supported propulsion identifiers through the Q3 hybrid guide. Do not assume an earlier TFSI e and a newer e-hybrid share battery, inlet, replenishment limits or service instructions. A charging-port photograph is insufficient technical identification. Retain installed equipment and any disclosed intervention separately from a launch brochure. Ask actual receiving providers about the identified configuration before valuing its electric capability. The comparison concerns a supported candidate and an accepted alternative, not an attractive modern hybrid claim applied to an earlier imported car whose fitted systems remain unidentified.
Map legitimate charging access available now
State workplace, public or shared-property access with actual parking windows, equipment and applicable instructions. The home AC preparation guide is relevant if property access is feasible, but an unconfirmed future installation cannot count as available today. Verify hardware through the inlet and cable checks and keep accounts, permissions and payment conditions visible. A nearby map marker does not establish compatibility or routine availability. Different generations can have different charging capabilities; do not invent a universal fast-charging promise. Determine how often the owner can actually replenish while completing ordinary tasks rather than arranging dedicated ideal demonstration stops.
Distinguish essential travel from electric-use benefits
Follow the identified car’s instructions for supported operation and avoid treating the battery as optional maintenance simply because fuel-backed travel is available. Describe which ordinary journeys can reasonably use replenished energy and which will rely on other supported operating modes. Keep hybrid functioning and operating conditions attached to the candidate. A headline electric range is not a guaranteed household result. If charging seldom occurs, the purchase case needs a benefit that remains under that pattern. Do not quietly value the car as a routinely charged PHEV while proposing an owner routine that rarely provides the necessary replenishment.
Inspect both propulsion paths and receiving support
Use appropriate whole-car and hybrid-qualified scope through the inspection checklist. Retain relevant battery, enclosure, charging, engine, cooling, transmission and available diagnostic findings without promising universal remaining life. Fuel-backed travel does not prove every high-voltage function is healthy or remove the need for applicable support. Ask a receiving provider about actual diagnosis and relevant parts. Keep seller coverage claims separate from written terms through the overseas support review. A low asking price does not make an unsupported consequential system issue acceptable, and absence of a warning is narrower evidence than a complete examined propulsion record.
Separate a confirmed workplace arrangement from a hope
Consider an owner with no private charger who can presently use a compatible workplace arrangement on certain days. Confirm access conditions, parking time and applicable vehicle acceptance before valuing the recurring electric benefit. Then compare a credible week when that arrangement is unavailable, using only the identified car’s supported operating modes. A planned move to a residence with possible charging belongs in a separate future case. The purchase may still be coherent, but its reason should not depend silently on a property installation or newer-generation charging feature that the offered car and owner do not currently have.
Compare the complete routine and prepared offer
Record paid electricity, fuel and supported care assumptions in the three-year worksheet. Separate confirmed tariffs from future expectations and include fees or dedicated detours where relevant. Align preparation, charging objects, examined condition and delivery scope through the price guide. Do not invent guaranteed fuel savings or assume nominal battery capacity predicts purchased electricity. Compare with an actual alternative that meets the same household and receiving requirements. If the hybrid benefit depends on installing private charging later, show that dependency explicitly rather than hiding its equipment, property approval and uncertainty inside an apparently favourable vehicle price.
Record when the acceptance should be reopened
Document original configuration, current hybrid evidence, usable access, intended routine and support limits in the purchase schedule. A changed residence, workplace, generation, VIN or receiving market can change the result. Decide whether available replenishment supports meaningful repeated benefits, whether another supported Q3 suits better or whether evidence remains incomplete. This is a plug-in-hybrid decision, not the no-charging case for a pure EV. Fuel availability and electric benefits belong in separate parts of the explanation. The accepted proposal should remain coherent without universal range claims, promised future chargers or an assumption that petrol operation certifies battery condition.
